Minimum wage
The minimum wage is currently $13.10 per hour. This rate has been in effect since May 1, 2020.
Whether a full-time or part-time employee or an employee paid according to piecework wage or on commission-based wages, a worker is entitled to receive at least minimum wage. He or she cannot be paid less than the rate in effect. The employer must pay the worker a wage equal to or more than minimum wage.
When the minimum wage rate increases, the employer is not obliged to adjust the worker's wage if what the worker receives is more than the minimum rate.
Workers must receive at least minimum wage even if they have certain benefits, such as an automobile or accommodations provided by their employer.
