Hazard identification tool

The hazard identification tool is used to document the prevention process.

This tool, which is optional but strongly recommended by the CNESST, can be used to identify hazards, establish priorities, determine preventive measures and controls for each workstation and record them.

By following the steps in the prevention process, the employer will quickly obtain a starting point for their prevention program using the template.

Who is it for?

It is intended for those involved in occupational health and safety management, such as the employer, the workers, their representatives and the health and safety committee. You don't need to be an expert to use it. The tool provides step-by-step guidance in the form of questions and boxes to be filled in.

The tool can be used to document part of the organization of prevention, the fourth winning condition of occupational health and safety management.

Frequency of use

The prevention process, using the hazard identification tool, must be completed at least once a year or each time the workstation is modified. This allows for prevention and demonstrates continuous improvement.
