Section 79.10

An employee may be absent from work for a period of not more than 104 weeks if the employee’s minor child has disappeared. If the child is found before the expiry of the period of absence, that period shall end on the eleventh day that follows the day on which the child is found.

Interpretation

An employee whose minor child has disappeared is entitled to be absent from work without pay for a maximum period of 104 weeks. This absence only applies in the case where the employee’s child is a minor.

During this period of absence, if the child is found alive, the employee’s period of absence will end on the eleventh day following that on which the child was found.
